The ongoing Covid-19 pandemic forced the EPICA partners to postpone the consortium meeting that was originally planned to be held in July 2020 in Nairobi, Kenya to October and finally to convene virtually due to restrictions imposed on international travel and meetings.
The objective of this one-day virtual meeting was to have an in-depth presentation and discussion of all activities that had been undertaken during the last six months by the different partners and their outcomes.
A special focus was put on the EPICA pilot implemented in the four partner universities between January - July 2020, which despite COVID-19 related restrictions, produced highly interesting experiences and results that enriched the EPICA final outcomes.
Each work package leader presented the latest achievements of the particular work package they were in charge of and discussed the activities planned for the remaining three months of the project.
These are the localisation plans to support the sustainability of the final outcomes, the validation plans of all activities, and the dissemination events to ensure visibility of the outcomes and to allow for engagement with relevant stakeholders in the final phase of the project.
Three “Open Days” will be organised at the end of October by the three African partner universities to which relevant local stakeholders are invited to attend:
- Open University of Tanzania (22nd October)
- Makerere University in Uganda (28th October)
Maseno University in Kenya (30th October)
Even though the Consortium meeting was held virtually, it was very well organised and a highly productive event. However, the EPICA consortium partners were sad not to be able to meet face to face and looked forward to future opportunities to meet in person.
